Hi, welcome to shoalhaven dressage club
Shoalhaven Dressage Club is the largest club on the South Coast of NSW. 2023 sees our 38th year since incorporation. Even though we have a large member base, we pride ourselves with being "The Friendly Club." We focus on enjoying the sport of dressage. Our riders range from beginners to members having represented Australia.
Our Misson statement
To provide a fun and relaxed environment in which all levels of horse and rider feel welcome and are encouraged to participate in events, to contribute to consistent improvement in their dressage.
Our Objective:
To promote an inclusive environment for dressage in the Shoalhaven
How we will do this:
Enable members to come together to enjoy their horses and the sport of dressage
Promote a fun, relaxed and inclusive environment for our members
Positively encourage new and existing riders at all levels
Conduct and arrange dressage events in the Shoalhaven, including Competitions, Training Days, and Judges Clinics
Positively encourage Club members and volunteers to contribute to the Club with new ideas
Steadily improve the facilities at the Worrigee Equestrian Common
Positively encourage public knowledge of and interest in Dressage
Competing
SDC holds six competitions per year. We offer dressage tests at every level, from Preparatory right through to Grand Prix. We also have a Freestyle competition once a year and often run Young Horse Qualifiers. The Club Championships are very popular, being well supported by our most generous sponsors, with prize money now being offered for all events. Our Club Pointscore is hotly contested, with Rugs and Trophies awarded at our annual Presentation Night.
Training, clinics and club activities
The Club works hard to provide all its members with opportunities to improve their riding skills and to enrich their enjoyment of the sport.
Member's Club Days are low-key training days for members to practice their dressage tests and have it judged, without the pressure of competition.
Instruction Clinics are organised periodically throughout the year, with some of the best available coaches. Past instructors include Heath and Rozzie Ryan, Carlos de Cleermaeker and Brett Parbury.
We also organise social events for fundraising, education of just to have an opportunity to get together.
Young riders, juniors, ponies and veteran horses
SDC offers special awards for Juniors and Veteran Horses within our annual pointscore awards. We have Official and Associate Pony Classes. Junior's have their own events at all competitions with a discounted entry for junior members.
For more information about these classes, including the class rules, head to the Dressage NSW website.
